Europa’s Classical Futures Mentoring scheme is unique in drawing together some of the country’s finest professional musicians to contribute to our educational programmes. Since artistic operations began in 2008 we have worked with members of some of the UK’s leading orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Each fellow is assigned a mentor during his or her time with the orchestra who is responsible for overseeing their development during the academic year. In addition to this, mentors assist in the general training of the orchestra taking workshops and sectional rehearsals, and assisting resident and visiting conductors with concert preparations. Mentors also play a vital role in assisting with training Europa musicians for the orchestra’s school work.
